ACROSS THE WATER
I began this series at my daughter’s first swimming lesson. Waiting by the pool, I was captivated by the light falling on her and the water that engulfed her, and decided to bring my camera along from then on. Fast forward twenty years, and although our shoots have become less frequent, we have continued... along the creek, at the lake, and when we're lucky, by the ocean, all are opportunities for our shot. There's only one rule: she must stand, back to me, gazing across the water. 
THE GIRLS OF GROUP K
An ongoing documentation of girls who met on their adoption trip from China to Minnesota in 2002, both sets of images were made at pivotal junctures in their lives. The first installment was completed the summer before they started kindergarten and first grade, and the second, as they were graduating from high school, beginning college and life away from home.
