ACROSS THE WATER

Across the water is an ongoing documentation began with my daughter as a way of involving her and her immigration story into my work. Beginning at her first swimming lesson, we have been working on this project for seventeen years now, at the lake, by the creek, and along the river. There is only one rule; she must be standing in front of water, her back to the camera, gazing across the water.,

THE GIRLS OF GROUP K

This project is an ongoing photo documentation of a group of girls who met on their adoption trip from China to Minnesota in 2002. Both sets of images have been made at pivotal junctures in their lives. The first installment of the project, completed just before they started kind kindergarten and first grade, was exhibited alongside the MN Center for Photography Three Gorges Chines exhibition in 2006. The second set was made in 2019-20, as the girls were graduating from high school and thinking about college and jobs away from home.. This project continues my ongoing work on immigration in the Midwest. I plan to exhibit these two installments of the project sometime in 2025-26..
